Advertising authentic recipe mixes across the UK
Shan Foods is a global culinary brand, growing across a number of international markets, and looking to expand its presence within the UK. Offering a range of recipe mixes, primarily in South Asian cuisine, Shan Foods were looking at raising awareness of their product range to the UK market. Placing itself as the UK's premier recipe mix brand, with its authentic flavours, the Ark Media were looking at devising a campaign to ensure people knew they could get great quality recipe mixes in a handy packet.
Objectives
The primary objective of the campaign was to:
- Raise awareness of Shan's recipe mix range in major cities, targeting specific diverse communities to match Shan Foods cuisines.
Strategy and Execution
To create a high impact campaign, providing coverage across the targeted regions we deployed bus supersides, which are unmissable, attention-grabbing adverts on the pedestrian side of the bus. This position ensures both pedestrians and motorists are exposed to the message. Raised above the hustle and bustle of the street, the 20 foot banner provides a unique opportunity to talk directly to audiences.
Using geographical insight combined with our experience of how bus can build a brand, we selected depots which we knew serve the communities we were looking to communicate with. By focusing on surrounding towns of major cities like Manchester and London we were able to create campaigns which delivered high impacts and frequencies to the customers most interested in our product, whilst ensuring we would have a presence within the cosmopolitan areas. Buses take your message to the public, and by being strategic with our choices we were able to create significant coverage in major cities whilst simultaneously targeting our primary audience.

- Bus Supersides, targeting London, Manchester, Bradford with focus on diverse towns and boroughs such as Oldham, Bolton, West Ham and Croydon
Targeting the right audience
By creating a comprehensive campaign using simplistic but striking visuals, we demonstrated a snapshot of Shan Foods' great range of recipes and why consumers should be using them as part of their culinary creations. Supersides provide imposing advertising, above the clutter of street furniture, giving a brand presence across a region. Through our knowledge of bus routes and bus depots we knew which buses would be servicing our target communities and were able to tailor the chosen depots to focus on target areas.
Delivering this branding message to multiple major cities across England, Shan Foods is becoming a key fixture in the nation's cupboards with its delicious range of authentic cuisine recipe mixes.
